Our proposals
Following pre-application meetings with both Swale Borough Council, and Kent County Council, TPT has been working on their proposals to demolish the existing building, and construct a high-quality part seven, six, five and four-storey building.

The site is currently a vacant retail unit (the former Kent Mart), and office space on the upper floors, in the town centre. It is in a suitable location, and its redevelopment for housing is strongly supported by planning policy at all levels. TPT owns the site and has been working on proposals to redevelop it to bring it back into use around its MySpace Urban Community Living concepts. This focus on providing innovative approaches to space and flexibility, maximum daylight within the homes and in shared spaces, as well as positive use of access and internal amenity spaces.
The Proposals
These are exciting proposals and concentrates on delivering a sustainable housing offer that responds to changing leisure and working lifestyles. TPT is committed to delivering age-friendly housing and has started discussions with various age-friendly organisations. TPT’s vision and objectives is embodied in a high-quality design of the building that contributes to the local community and surrounding public realm.
We have produced some boards with more information about the redevelopment proposals, which you can read here.

- 33 new and modern homes, which will be a mix of 9 two-bedroom flats, 17 one-bedroom flats and 7 studios. This is in response to the Council’s policy and need for such homes in town centre locations.
- 34 secure bike spaces repairs work areas and ancillary personal storage areas to be included for residents
- A car-free development meaning that residents who will live in the development will not have car parking spaces nor be able to have a car, and therefore will not contribute to localised traffic. However, there will be provision for two electric car-club parking spaces that will comply with disabled parking space standards. The car-club will also be available for existing residents and business in the area, thus contributing to the local community.
- Amenity space and communal facilities that exceed national space requirements will be maximised to deliver the housing concept, MySpace Urban Community Living.
- Access, maximum accessibility within the building and outdoor space. Step-free access to the building, with full accessibility for wheelchair users. The building will be DDA-compliant.
- Landscape, An active frontage along Dover Street to enhance the public realm and bring more life and activity to the area.
